Chartered in 1984 as a not-for-profit organization, the Edgewood Foundation arose from the merging of the Edgewood School District into the Woodland Hills School District.
Monies remaining in the residents’ legal fund, established to preserve the Borough’s schools, were directed to the new organization by the original donors. It was their hope that a central institution of social and cultural activity would provide some of the civic amenities historically afforded by the Edgewood Schools.
The Foundation’s capital funds are invested by The Pittsburgh Foundation. It is the Foundation’s long-range goal to build this capital fund to a point where its ongoing projects and programs can be self-supporting.
