EDGEWOOD HISTORY

Incorporated in 1888, the Borough of Edgewood has been designated a historic district by the Pittsburgh History and Landmarks Foundation. This unique borough features quiet, tree-lined residential streets, convenient neighborhood shopping, and outstanding access to all of the Pittsburgh region’s business, cultural, and academic centers.

With an independent and responsive government, a professional police force, and a strong tax base, the Edgewood community enjoys one of the highest levels of public service in the region.

Although it occupies less than one square mile, Edgewood combines the best of the city and the suburbs. It’s also the best combination of the past, present, and the future. Warm, friendly neighbors make Edgewood truly a great place to be involved and call home.

Developed at the turn of the century, Edgewood boasts a striking blend of architectural styles – Arts & Crafts, Victorian, Gregorian, and Colonial – maintained and updated by each new generation of homeowners.

The diversity of style is matched by the breadth of type. Edgewood’s leafy streets feature newly built townhomes, elegant mansions, and large contemporaries. This diverse neighborhood also includes a range of starter homes, apartments, and upscale condominiums. The variety in home type gives homebuyers here an unparalleled choice in one of the greenest and best-preserved communities in the Pittsburgh region.
